Thrifted Our Generation 18inch Doll Makeover!

Hi Doll Friends!!
I recently found an Our Generation doll at Goodwlll for $1.99. I am telling you, I simply can’t leave them in the store at that price!
She got made over the day I got her… It’s one of my favorite “doll activities” is to take a doll from the dreaded Toy Box Trauma state and give her new life…
I like to do makeovers so much that I nearly forgot to take any before photos! I’d already cleaned her up when I took these… She had been a bit dirty but I took a Norwex Enviro cloth to her and she looks nearly good as new… Except her hair…
It wasn’t the worst I had ever seen but it was in pretty bad shape…! I didn’t even attempt to fix it because I knew I wanted to change her to a red-head.
I’ve been looking for a doll to be a doppelgänger of one of my friends… She needed to have light blue eyes and I had a wig all ready for me to find the right doll.
Here she is with Florence, one of my other (actually my first!) OG dolls. Don’t they look like cousins! I named the new girl Janeane. She looks lots like my real friend Janeane who I’ve been friends with since she was my first neighbor in my first apartment I ever had as a grown woman… So… I’ve known her quite a while! Haha.
So here are Florence and Janeane enjoying a cool glass of lemonade by the ocean… My first apartment was in Hawaii and so I figured that made sense. I love dolls! Especially when I makeover one into a doppelgänger of a friend… It makes them mean so much more.
Here are the girls with another ginger from my collection…
That’s it for now friends!
Till next time!

  1. Thanks! I love it too. It's meant to be a house flag but it really makes a great background. I've thought a few times how silly it might be to have two such similar dolls in the doll house but can't bear to part with either of them. LOL
